ABOUT THE INSTITUTE
The ruby carries love, fire, courage, and the heart(h). It's the place within ourselves where we find our way home.
The Ruby Institute brings community-based clinical care, intensive supervision, relational training, and leadership development under one roof.
We were founded to fill a gap: early-career clinicians often leave graduate school without the mentorship, trauma training, and community they need, right as their most formative years begin.
Founded and led by Phoenix Rosewood, PhD, LMHC, a counselor educator, supervisor, and researcher with more than 15 years in the field.
What's different here?
We hold clinical excellence and justice in the same hand. Here's what that looks like in practice.
Learning happens in the room
Clinicians in training learn alongside seasoned counselors through live supervision. With the client’s consent, a supervisor joins the session and coaches. Supervision this close asks for trust, so it starts with choice: clients decide their level of comfort, and intake sessions are never observed.
A bridge from the academy
Too many clinicians leave graduate school without the structure and mentorship that shaped them. Recent changes in Massachusetts let pre-licensed clinicians practice in private settings, and we use that opening to build the bridge: supervision matched to where an early-career counselor is in their development, and a community built to help guard against burnout.
Research shapes the practice
Founded by a published researcher and clinical trainer, research is the undercurrent. Our research shapes how we treat, supervise, and teach. Inquiry accompanies humility and collaboration with leading clinical experts in the field, alongside communities with lived experiences who know what they want and what they need.
Access is part of the foundation
Quality care and training shouldn’t depend on what you can spare. Sessions with our associate clinicians are $55 starting in December, groups run on a sliding scale, and the Community Fund covers up to $75 toward a training. Before we ask anyone else to give, we put 5% of our profits in, so the people who want this training most can get it.
